5. Handling of Sensitive Information

texasWINthem does store information about users that is crucial for validating licenses only:

  • Email Addresses: Are stored in our database to validate the licenses.
  • Passwords: Only the MD5-hash is stored to validate the license. texasWINthem does not know the passwords of the clients.
  • Credit Card Information: texasWINthem does not know any credit card information, the payment process is outsourced completely to Saferpay (Telekurs). Nevertheless, texasWINthem is certified according to the international security standard PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).
  • Names of Clients: As for credit card information texasWINthem does not know the names of the clients.

6. How can I get texasWINthem for free?

7. How can I change the Language?

If you want to switch the language: Do it on the fly. Use the flags in the upper right corner. Click the flag of your favorite language to switch immediately. All controls, texts, links (e.g. to the online help) are updated.

8. I am not Happy with the Evaluation of the Pocket Cards. Can I change it?

Yes, of course. Everybody has a different poker style: Some people play devensive or moderate, some others much more aggressive. Some people need a tip for 9 opponents, others just for 3.

The default tips make sense if you want to win money mid or long-term.

  • Click on the 'Options' button in the main dialog and select the tab 'Pocket Cards'.
  • Select the scenario you want to change.
  • Select two values and choose if they have the same suit or not (radio button on the right hand side).
  • Change the tip and description below so that both fit for you.

9. How Can I Change the Names and Shortcuts of the Suits?

Click on the 'Options' button in the main dialog and select the tab 'Suits'. You are free in the choice of names and shortcuts.
The values you see and modify here are used in the drop-down lists of the main dialog and the Options tab 'Pocket Cards'.

Click on the 'Options' button in the main dialog and select the tab 'Values'. You are free in the choice of names and shortcuts.

In the dialog showed below you set the login information on your computer (locally).
Login on the User Center on our website to change the login information on the texasWINthem license server.

13. I Changed a lot of Options and now I Loose my Money. How Do I Restore the Default Values?

Click on the 'Options' button in the main dialog. On the bottom line you find a button 'Restore default values'. When you click on it, all options (i.e. names and shortcuts of suits and card values as well as the evaluation of your pocket cards) will be replaced by the default.

14. Is there any Overview with all Pocket Card Evaluations?

Yes, there is. Click on the 'Options' button in the main dialog and select the tab 'Pocket Cards'. Click on the button 'Show all tips and hints' to get a list of all pocket card tips and evaluations.

15. Is the Probability for a Pair Really Correct?

If you have no pair in your pocket cards, your probability for getting a pair is a little bit higher than for your opponent (see screenshot below).

The reason for this is that you already know 2 cards that your opponents don't have. The probability of a pair with one of your values is smaller for the opponents, while your opponents' cards are not known to you and therefore are not taken into account for the calculation of your probability to get a pair.

16. What are the Restrictions of the TRIAL Version?

  • The software runs only 10 days on your computer
  • You can't save changed options as names of suits, names of values, shortcuts and pocket card evaluation
  • The probabilities for Full House and Flush are not calculated
You can download the free TRIAL version here.

You know that you are running the TRIAL version if you see the following dialog during startup or the message "not calculated (trial)" instead of the probabilities of Full House and Flush.

17. What is a Java Runtime Environment and Why Do I need it?

texasWINthem is a Java Application. Even if it looks like a normal Windows Application. As every Java Application, it needs a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run on your computer. In all probability, you will already have a JRE on your computer. texasWINthem tells you, if it expects a newer version of the JRE (see screenshot below). If you have an older version but don't want to upgrade your JRE now, texasWINthem offers you to run with the existing JRE. Usually, there should be no problem with this approach.

The JRE can be downloaded from SUN (free). You will also find the installation instructions there.

18. Error Message: "Internal Technical Error [code]"

There was an internal error when validating your license. If the error appears repeatedly, please contact the support (support @ texaswinthem . com).

19. Error Message: "You can use the TRIAL version for 10 days only"

This error can occur while validating your license.

  • You are using the trial version of texasWINthem.
  • The first time you start the application, your credentials (they depend on your computer) are registered and remain valid for 10 days.
  • After these 10 days it is not possible anymore to run the trial version on your computer.

Please contact the support (support @ texaswinthem . com) if you are using a licensed version or think that you did not use texasWINthem longer than 10 days.

20. Error Message: "Your license has been invalidated"

This error can occur while validating your license.
texasWINthem has implemented the following license schema (see also description and software license agreement):

  • When you buy the software, you register with an email address and a password. You have to enter the registered email address as well as the password at your first use of texasWINthem.
  • Every license is valid for one network adapter (we use computer as a synonym for network adapter). When you use texasWINthem from a different computer, the credentials from your first computer are invalidated. This enables you to use texasWINthem without any problem when you change your computer.

Please buy an additional license if you want to run texasWINthem on different computers alternately (e.g. from your LAN and WLAN). If you have more than one license, the credentials of all your computers will be registered until you reach the maximal number of licenses. If you exceed the number of your licenses, the longest-unused credential will be invalidated.

Please note that an invalidated license will not be re-activated automatically when you buy an additional license. If you want us to re-activate an invalidated license in this case, this is no problem, of course. Please send an email to our support (support @ texaswinthem . com).

21. Error Message: "You are either not registered, your password is wrong, or you have no license"

This error can occur while validating your license.

  • If you just downloaded texasWINthem or got it from a friend, you can't use the software. You have to buy it. This includes a registration.
  • If you did buy texasWINthem but still get this error message, you may mistyped your email address or password when you entered both when running texasWINthem for the first time.
    If you did so, please remove the parameter files (you find them in the 'params' directory on your computer's harddisk next to where you copied the executable of texasWINthem) or edit them manually.
  • The third reason for this error is, that you registered, but there went something wrong with the payment. In that case you have no licenses and are not able to run texasWINthem

22. Error Message: "Unable to connect to https://texaswinthem.com/"

You seem to be offline. Remember that texasWINthem needs an internet connection to validate your license (see also description and software license agreement).

23. Error Message: "Cannot read valid MAC address"

There was an internal error when reading the MAC address of you network adapter. This error can occur even if you have a perfect internet connection. We had problems with some MS Windows Vista configurations, some character sets as well as interesting network adapters. Up to now we found a solution for every problem. Therefore, please contact the support to help us find a solution for your configuration (support @ texaswinthem . com).

24. Error Message: "Unhandled operating system"

texasWINthem was implemented for Windows operating systems only. A check of your operating system showed, that you are not using a Windows system. Therefore, texasWINthem will not run on your computer. Please contact the support if you are using a Windows system that was not identified correctly (support @ texaswinthem . com).
